Before & After

I like a footed urn and use them all the time.  So when I saw this old friend in the barn, I grabbed him!

He used to live in the kitchen when roosters ruled...not so much these days.

A little black paint (honestly, I keep a mini roller in a  plastic pan of black paint, sealed in a plastic bag) just for  moments like this.

A touch of gold (that's never far away) and, at the most, five minutes of work...VOILA!

On the cocktail table for now, but who knows where in the future.  A little black and a little gold in every room, I always say!

This turned out just lovely! As you've said before, every room needs a touch of gold.

On another note, Melinda: Get your candles and generator ready. Frankenstorm is on it's way. The cold front has passed thru TX (it's actually only 54 here today!) and it's coming to the East Coast. The front will meet up with Hurricane Sandy next Tues. and it won't be a pretty sight.

I'll be praying for you and all your neighbors along the New England coastline. It will be a truly scary Halloween...

Thank you for your concern, Helen. It is raw and windy here today, and only going to get worse! We are snug in our home and just hope we don't lose electricity.

I hope you and yours are doing well in Sandy's wake. I saw on the news yesterday that Maine was getting quite a bit of rain and wind. You can email me directly, if you like, at helen.valenzuela@haynesboone.com. I want to know that you are OK.

We are just fine! Just some wind and rain in our parts. No need to worry!
