Before & After

I like a footed urn and use them all the time.  So when I saw this old friend in the barn, I grabbed him!

He used to live in the kitchen when roosters ruled...not so much these days.

A little black paint (honestly, I keep a mini roller in a  plastic pan of black paint, sealed in a plastic bag) just for  moments like this.

A touch of gold (that's never far away) and, at the most, five minutes of work...VOILA!

On the cocktail table for now, but who knows where in the future.  A little black and a little gold in every room, I always say!

Fall Leaves...

Even on this gray day, the leaves are quite pretty on Second Street.  The colors of fall, can't get enough of them!

Soon the trees will be bare, the ground covered in snow...time to batten down the hatches.

Polar fleece vests, Uggs, and yes, even a scarf become indoor attire.  The best seat in the house is in the front room next to the gas stove, and bedtime gets earlier and earlier...ahhh winter!

Today, I'll enjoy the colors of fall, continue getting the front room ready for it's winter inhabitants, and oh yes, dust off my snowshoes.  The snowshoes I have never used.  The snowshoes that have been hanging in the barn for three years. The snowshoes that are going to make winter so much fun! Gee, I just can't wait for that first snow fall...clomp, clomp, clomp.

Monaco Blue

Pantone's color of the year 2013, Monaco Blue.

Formal...

Or fun...

It works!

Trust me, it will show up on everything, everywhere, from Target to Neiman's. Can't wait, I think it's great!

Any Monaco Blue in your future?

Kitchen Island

We all know how expensive custom kitchen cabinetry is, so I just had to share with you this photo of a piece of furniture turned into a kitchen island.

This is a very high end kitchen, the stove alone cost in the neighborhood of $8,000.00. The fact that they used a former dining room buffet as an island is great in my book.  No electrical, no plumbing, just a slab of granite!

Definitely will keep this in mind and keep my eyes open for a piece that can be repurposed as successfully as this!
